Secondary transition evening #2

Our second online evening for parents of children joining us in September 2024 was held on Thursday 20th June.

The evening gave an update on the transition activities undertaken so far and plans for the remaining weeks before the summer break.

Our third evening will be held during the transition days on Thursday 11th July at 6.00pm.

The slides from the evening can be found below.

Questions from the session and from the transition email are below:
Does academic performance from primary school influence tutor groupings?
No, we base the tutor groupings primarily on ensuring pupils are with someone they know, and then any guided information from primary schools.
When will they find out about their tutor groups?
These are being finalised now so will be issued to parents prior to the transition week 10th-12th July.
Do tutor groups evolve or remain fixed?
Tutor groups are all ability and remain fixed for their duration at Chilwell School.
Do they travel to the transition days straight to the school or through the primary school?
For the year six transition days they will come straight to Chilwell School from home, not from their primary school.
What time is face to face on 11th July?
The face to face transition evening will be from 6pm - full details will be shared prior to this.
Will there be visits to non-feeder schools?
Whilst our family schools will be visited first as they have the highest number of pupils coming here, Mr Hobbs will do his best to visit any other schools during this time.
Do the pupil friend forms get emailed out?
These were sent to the primary schools who have completed them and sent them back. We have received forms from the primary schools of all of the children.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
