Assessment and Reporting

The curriculum is our progression model, with pupils introduced to more challenging curriculum material as they progress through the school. We expect all students to reach their age related expectations and these are detailed in the subject schemes in key stage three.

At key stages four and five, the assessment scheme for GCSEs and A levels are used to ensure students have a clarity of expectation and challenge.

In year seven, pupils are introduced to the following model:

Attitude to learning scores are judgements made by the class teacher against a set of criteria .

1-Outstanding    2-Good    3- Requires Improvement    4-Unsatisfactory

The target assessment band is based on a number of factors, including the pupil’s KS2 data. Some students will have entered Chilwell school above age related expectations at the end of primary and some below.

The awarded assessment band is the subject teacher’s judgement of the assessment band the pupil will be confidently working in by the end of the year based on in class assessments and work.

As a student progresses through key stage three, the curriculum challenge increases and so to remain in the securing band means demonstrating an increased level of subject knowledge, skills and understanding.
