6th September 2019
I would like to thank all of our staff, students and parents for a very smooth and positive start of term.
Thank you for ensuring that the start of this term has been so positive. I have been able to see most classes and in leading assemblies have been really pleased with the positive attitude of students returning, the enthusiasm of students who have just joined us this year and the clear support we have had from parents in ensuring that students are appropriately dressed and ready for school.
It is unfortunate that the start of term in schools can sometimes be one of conflict, with students returning to the structured school environment after the summer holidays, but I am grateful for the supportive families that we have. It means we can ensure that we can all focus on the most important thing - to enable our students to be the best they can be. On the back of a very pleasing set of examination results at GCSE and A level, the school is a positive and optimistic place to be!
We have two welcome events next week, with our "Welcome to the sixth form" evening on Wednesday 11th at 6pm and our "Welcome to Year Ten" evening on Thursday 12th September at 5.45pm. This will be an opportunity for parents of students starting on their examination courses to find out more about what to expect and how they can best help. Please can I draw parents of new sixth form students to the dedicated sixth form area of our site.
We also will be holding a "Welcome to Year Seven" evening on 10th October, which will offer parents the opportunity to meet their child's form tutor and find out how they have settled in at Chilwell.
Thank you again - I look forward to updating you on the school successes throughout the year.
