Y10 and Y12 examinations
Students in years ten and twelve will be sitting their end of year examinations in the weeks commencing 24th June and 1st July. Please ensure that students check the timetable and where they are seated so that the next couple of weeks go smoothly.

Anti social behaviour
I will be meeting with partners in schools across the local area next Wednesday to discuss strategies to tackle some of the anti social behaviour that can appear across Beeston and Chilwell. A couple of issues that I would particularly like to draw your attention are below:

• e-scooters - Following the recent death of a man who fell from an e-scooter whilst riding along a Nottingham road and an increase of reports of 11-16 yr olds using e-scooters in the local community including our pupils, we would like to remind parents and pupils of the following information passed to us by Nottinghamshire police. We understand that buying an e-scooter can be tempting, especially as you can get them from many popular retailers. However, the current law is clear on their use. Currently in the UK, you can legally buy an e-scooter, but you cannot ride it on a public road, public space, cycle lane or pavement. The only place it can be used is on private land with the landowners permission.
• As e-scooters don’t always have number plates, signalling ability or visible rear lights, they cannot be used legally on the roads.  E-scooters are classified as Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEVs), so they are treated as motor vehicles and subject to the same legal requirements as other vehicles, such as MOT, licencing, tax and insurance. Police also have the powers to seize vehicles – please make sure you keep your e-scooter on private land, so this doesn’t happen to you.
• Knock a door run - We have had reports from the community beat officer that he has been alerted to houses being disturbed with children knocking on doors. Where CCTV imagery is available, we will always continue to help police with identification if they are making further enquiries.

Sports Leaders help at primary sports events
Our sports leaders will be busy over the next few weeks assisting with the running of sports days at local primary schools. Our students do a fantastic job and represent the school really well. Thank you to all of them.

Grand Central Chorus
We are really pleased that the school's facilities are used by a range of groups at the evenings and weekends. One of our partners is the Grand Central Chorus and if you are interested in joining them - see below! The group recently went to Harrogate and competed in the National barbershop competition (British Association of Barbershop Singers). With a very respectable score and a 6th place in the country out of 35 choruses, the chorus want to build numbers further. GCC are always looking to encourage people to try a cappella singing and the way they have found most effective is to run a short course (5 weeks) to learn a song and then to put on a small show for friends and family, so everyone can get a feeling for what is involved.  They will be running a course at CAT from 26 June with a mini-show on 24 July.
