24th May 2024
Friday was our last day of full timetable for our year elevens. With our year thirteens already well into their examinations, the school will seem quieter and it was a morning of pride and sadness to say farewell to students, even though we will see them again very shortly at the mathematics examination on the the first Monday after half-term!
The last day is always a special moment and it was good to share this rite of passage with our students as they move on to the adventures of our sixth form or other routes.
General election - Chilwell hustings!
We are really to be hosting a special event at Chilwell School and this will be a hustings event for local parliamentary candidates on Tuesday 11th June. We already have confirmation from most of the major parties and we hope to have a full house of candidates to take part in a question and answer session. We have been promoting the importance of voting with our students and this is an excellent opportunity for the young people of our community to engage in politics and the issues surrounding their future. See the news item for further details.

Punch - Nottingham Playhouse
Our year ten drama students were fortunate to be able to see the new play "Punch" at Nottingham Playhouse. Its focus on the consequences of violence and the search for forgiveness have had an impact on many people in the local area and our students not only enjoyed the play immensely but were also a credit to the school.
Sporting networks
We hosted a further meeting of Broxtowe schools this week to plan more opportunities for inter school activities and sport. Our sports facilities are already well used by the community and we look to extend this further with increasing our primary school events for partners across the Broxtowe area. In addition, we held a further meeting with British Rowing to develop more exciting opportunities for our students going into and through next academic year.
