Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

22nd March 2024

In the last full week before the Easter break, we have been finalising revision sessions for the holidays and enhancement sessions for the new term.

A reminder that we end this term on Thursday 28th March and return for the summer term on Monday 15th April. During the two week break we have a range of revision sessions and these have been confirmed with students. Please can parents check the days and times that your children have booked.

Red Nose day

After last week's fund-raising activity, I am pleased to share that we raised over £700.00 for Comic Relief.

Success for year nine!

The school continues to enjoy a wide range of activities and team sports and yet again we have had success for our year nine football team. Another entertaining match report can be read here.

Welcome to new families

This week, I wrote to the families of students joining us in September and we also had the pleasure of visiting another of our partner primary schools with Mr Hobbs to talk to pupils about what to expect over the next few months and the next year. We also will be holding our first parent on line session after Easter and more information on that will be issued shortly.

SEND and Autism week

This week's assemblies focussed on autism and Mr Slater spoke to all year groups about the diversity of our community and the experiences of people with autism. I had also been at a meeting on Monday to develop the provision for students with SEND across the county and we continue to provide a strong steer in relation to supporting the needs of all students.

Specialisms

Next week, we will end the term with the launch of the specialisms programme to year eight and an online meeting with parents on Thursday 28th March to explain the process and the choices available. Further information and a link to this meeting will be sent out shortly.

University and apprenticeship event

On Tuesday our year twelve students went to the King Power Stadium in Leicester to meet university and apprenticeship providers. It was an informative experience and has helped shape the planning for our students before they move into their A level examination year.
