As a school we have a varied diet of events that are taking place, with DofE expeditions as well as supporting our partner primary schools with their sports events at the start of next week.

I am pleased that we retain a strong commitment to sport and fitness and the numbers of students who walk or cycle to school is very positive. We invited the team from safer travel in to meet with some of our cyclists on Wednesday to remind students of the importance of awareness and safety when travelling by bike. It is a great way to travel, but the number of traffic accidents that occur nationally with young people continues to be a concern. We will continue to remind students to travel safely and to be mindful of other road users on a regular basis.

In my role as head teacher I had a number of meetings with our partner organisations this week. On Tuesday, our behaviour partnership met to discuss plans to support students who find mainstream education a challenge. For these students there is a range of provision that we put in place to ensure that they continue with an educational placement whilst allowing the vast majority of students to continue with uninterrupted classroom learning. On Thursday, I met with other head teachers to discuss the provision of special educational need across the county and this morning it was good to meet up with my colleague headteachers in the primary schools to discuss our priorities and ensuring that the educational journey across all of our schools is strong.
