Nottingham Casuals

Students in years seven to ten attended the "RugbyX" event at Nottingham Casuals on Wednesday. It was great to get our students along and enjoy the challenge with our local team.

Parents evenings

We held our year twelve consultation evening on Thursday and will holding our year seven parents evening on Thursday 11th May. In addition, we have started a series of meetings with parents of students who will be joining us in September 2023.

Admissions

For the second year, we have agreed with the local authority to increase the number of places available at Chilwell School for incoming year sevens. We are pleased to be able to be part of the solution for parents wanting a place for their child at Chilwell. However, we are also aware that this means that this also increases the pressure on ensuring we have staff in place to provide an effective education. We have a number of vacancies on our website and whilst we have been delighted in filling some posts with excellent staff, the recruitment issues that are facing schools mean that we are affected in the same way as many other schools. Please use your voice as parents to ensure that schools receive the funding that allows us to provide for our current and future students.

Governing body

Our governing body met this week and this is also an opportunity for members of the community to become involved in the running of the school. As a foundation school, we are not subject to the distant decisions of a multi academy trust and so the governing body has more control and independence to work with the staff to bring support, change and security to the school's community. With the future build of Chilwell School to plan for, this is an exciting time to have an impact upon the future of Chilwell and Beeston.
