23rd September 2022
We held the final welcome evening for parents on Thursday with a session focussed on our sixth form students.
Slides from all of the presentations are now available on the website for anyone who missed these meetings.
Open evening
On Thursday 29th September we look forward to meeting the families of students currently in years five and six for our open evening. It will be an opportunity to meet staff, take part in classroom activities and hear further information about our school. We hope that parents have already taken time to look at the range of news stories and updates on the website and Thursday will be an opportunity to explore further our facilities and provision.
School funding and developments
On Thursday we hosted the local authority schools and early years forum. This is a key group that makes recommendations regarding funding and provision across the county. It is disappointing that there continue to be cuts in central funding and we explored ways in which the local authority can maintain its essential duty of monitoring and supporting effective provision in schools across the county.
At the same time we held a number of key meetings to support staff development in school and we have a number of projects running this year which will have a direct impact on classroom practice. We are excited to keep developing the skills of our staff and explore the most up to date ways of ensuring students can achieve their best. The research groups this year build on developments from last year and include the following:
- using technology to improve practice
- SEND cognition
- strategies to support reading
- modelling and scaffolding
These areas will involve partnership work and classroom research though this academic year.
