The pressure of performance table has led a large number of schools to shrink their curriculum and leave little room for the arts and design subjects. We believe that this is not in the interests of our students, nor in their capacity to develop as creative, independent and forward thinking adults.

The national report, Time to Listen, published by the Royal Shakespeare Company and our local University of Nottingham highlighted a number of principles to ensure a broad curriculum that produces the best thinking and the best chances for our students.

Amongst these as  a clear commitment to ensuring access to the arts through key stage three, a full range of arts and design subjects at key stage four and regular opportunities for students to engage with arts organisations and cultural experiences.

After re-reading this, I was really pleased to see our students perform in our recital evening on Wednesday evening. It was a lovely event, with a range of vocal, instrumental and ensemble pieces. Congratulations to all the students involved and to Ms Bradley for her continued support of our students' musical development.
