Our vision…

A high level of fluency in English is central to effective learning; a high level of critical media literacy is an essential survival tool in the modern world. The English and media department are a team of dedicated professionals who work collaboratively to develop passion in learning, creativity and respect for the individual. We value intellectual curiosity, open discussion and co-operative decision making. We challenge and encourage students, helping them to take responsibility for their learning and to work responsibly with their peers.

Our chief aim is to ensure that all pupils leave us with a high level of literacy. A love of literature in all its forms and a deeper understanding of how text and different texts are interpreted, manipulated and created; how context is critical to understanding and how meaning is constructed through a variety of textual techniques and strategies.
