Chilwell School on the water

On Wednesday, just under thirty students took to the water at Holme Pierrepont under the guidance of British Rowing coaches. It was a fabulous experience and the culmination of a month's preparation.

The students took to the water in quadruple sculls after having spent a few weeks preparing on dry rowing machines.

The sessions involved lifting and carrying the boats to the water, strapping in and setting off on the National Water Sports lake in teams. We were also able to see some of the Olympian athletes training and had a look around the facilities.

The students worked really well and the boats were soon moving smoothly through the water. We were instructed by the rowing coaches and it was staggering to see how quickly the teams worked together and got into a regular rhythm. Well done to everyone and we hope this will be the start of a new development for the school.
