COVID - update on procedures

The advice regarding Covid procedures has again changed and so please be aware of the following:

From 24 February:

  • Adults and children who test positive will still be advised to self-isolate but the legal requirement will be removed.

  • Vaccinated contacts of positive cases will no longer be asked to test for seven days.

  • There will no longer be a legal requirement for close contacts who are not vaccinated to self-isolate.

  • Contact tracing will also come to an end

Masks

We are aware that the decision will be different for different students and families, but those who wish to continue to wear masks at all times will be welcomed and supported.

Self-isolation

While children and staff are no longer required by law to self-isolate if they have COVID-19, we recommend that they should still stay at home and avoid contact with other people. This helps reduce the chance of passing COVID-19 on to others.

If you insist on your child attending school when they have symptoms, we can take the decision to refuse your child if, in our reasonable judgement, it is necessary to protect other pupils and staff from possible infection with COVID-19. Our decision would be carefully considered in light of all the circumstances and current public health advice. In order to avoid any difficult conversations, please consider carefully before sending a symptomatic child into school and err on the side of caution.

Asymptomatic testing

Since 21 February, staff and pupils in mainstream secondary schools no longer are expected to continue taking part in regular asymptomatic testing and should follow asymptomatic testing advice for the general population. Further information is available in the NHS get tested for COVID-19 guidance.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
