With the return of Barker to the starting line up, Chilwell reverted to their preferred 4-5-1 formation, with the unfortunate Ellis making way as substitute, after a lively display in the last fixture.

On a very wet and muddy pitch, with ‘Storm Brendan’ ensuring that the match would be a war of attrition won or lost in midfield, our midfield triumvirate of Jackson, Kneller and Bilson was pivotal to our success. Jackson continued his rich vein of form sitting in front of our back four of Allen, Ferguson, Barker and Gillies. This allowed the dynamic duo of Kneller and Bilson the opportunity to drive forward and assist our lone striker Langfield.

The goal came for Chilwell through the outstanding Langfield. Yet again he timed his run to perfection to beat the defensive offside trap, (after a fine through ball from influential playmaker Bilson). As the keeper advanced, Langfield coolly side footed the ball home low to the keeper’s left.

Chilwell’s second goal came soon afterwards, with the effervescent and effusive Jackson, scoring again with a long range effort that bamboozled the goalkeeper, as it dipped and swerved through the air.

Two nil at half time, with the only substitution being Mr Littlewood replacing a tiring (and injured) Mr Lodge as referee. Mr Littlewood was soon called into action, awarding a penalty to the opposition, after goalkeeper Nisbett was adjudged to have brought down their striker whilst attempting to dive on the ball.

CTK’s centre midfield player, certainly not helped by the dreadful conditions, smashed his penalty wide of the post, to the relief of Nisbett in goal.

The introduction of substitutes Sanguinazzi (another skilful player playing up from year 10) and Ellis gave Chilwell fresh impetus to see out the game 2-0.

Strong performances from Bilson, Kneller and Jackson in the midfield quagmire ensured we looked the dominant team throughout the fixture. However, our ‘Man of the Match’ this time goes to Langfield. His hold up play was exemplary throughout and his tireless running created endless problems for the CTK defence.

Another Year 10 student, Langfield had his best game so far in the the blue and white of Chilwell School.
