I was delighted that the school raised over £800 for Children in Need.

Thank you to all of our students for making the effort for charity on Friday. It is an important part of Chilwell to show consideration and care for others and we saw this in bucket loads. Thank you to the students who contributed, who organised cake sales and activities in the sports hall.

It was especially positive after the appalling weather we faced on Thursday. I apologise for postponing year ten parents' evening, but I felt it was in the best interest of the safety of our children and to help keep the roads clear. Our buildings were dry, but many of the access routes were under water. By Friday morning, only the entrance from the field was still water logged. We will be holding the year ten parents' evening now on Tuesday 10th December.

I was at a meeting with other educational leaders on Wednesday, discussing the most effective ways to raise student achievement. I am pleased that we have in place the structures and staff to allow excellent progress and we will be spending this academic year developing classroom and learning strategies further so that every moment counts.
