12th July 2024

It has been a lovely week of transition and taster days for primary school children. On Monday we had over two hundred year five students in school for a secondary school taster day. We believe that a smooth transition onto secondary is based upon frequent experiences and this is informing our planning for next year where we will expand our primary to secondary provision further.

On Wednesday to Friday, we welcomed our new cohort for September 2024 in to school. The three days were full of team activities, a focus on health and fitness and tasters of the lessons that students will take in the new year. On Thursday evening we hosted our welcome to parents of new starters and slides from the evening can be found on our transition pages.

2024-25 arrangements

As we prepare for next year, a reminder of the letter sent out last week by Mr Jay regarding breaks and lunches for next year. We continue with our split break and lunches to ensure that students have plenty of space and quick access to catering facilities. In addition we will have further facilities in the shape of the snack shack in the new social space.

The day pattern for 2024-25 is as follows:

Communication

We are always keen to ensure that our communication systems allow parents easy access to information about their child and communication with school. Whilst we are pleased with the current level of communication, we want to ensure that the range of systems is reduced as far as possible. Over the last six months in school we have been using Arbor, a school management system, for attendance and assessment and we plan to roll this out as our main communication system with parents at the start of the new academic year.

Arbor will allow easy access to information on your child's attendance, timetable, rewards and behaviour incidents as well as the main form of communication between home and school. Our work over the last few months has been spent checking that the system is working as we would like and your help as we launch it in the autumn will be useful so please let us know of any issues or suggestions as we look to enhancing communication further.

New projects for the future!

We will be announcing some exciting developments to enhance our curriculum further with a link between the school, the Theatre Royal and the Royal Shakespeare Company over the next few years. Look out for further news shortly!

Camping festival

The site is hosting another camping festival this weekend so there will be a large number of tents and awnings on the field at the front of school.

Activities week and the end of term

In just over a week, we will be embarking on activities week. We are really looking forward to the range of opportunities available for students and we will then gather together on Friday 26th for our final day together. School will finish at 12.00pm on this day. For those looking to the start of next term, dates can be found here.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
