Parents conference
Please see the attached flyer for a free conference for parents and carers of children and young people up to the age of 19 with additional needs, who are resident in Nottinghamshire or whose child attends a Nottinghamshire school.

Introducing Chilwell Breakfast

Starting on the 20th February 2024, we are opening our small canteen for staff and students to access breakfast. From 8am (daily) there will be a variety of breakfast items available to purchase. Students will be expected to leave the small canteen by 8.30am and line up outside the front of school ready for the start of the day.

Students entitled to free school meals will be eligible for a free slice of toast.   

Schools cross country
We are really pleased that Tom D in year 11 has got through to English Schools Cross country championships. He will be racing on 16th March at Pontefract racecourse, for both Chilwell School and the County. Go Tom!

Year nine drama trip

Year nine drama students visited Nottingham on Wednesday for a performance of Protest. It was a good opportunity to experience live theatre and the students were excellent ambassadors for the school.

Installation of railings in school car park
Starting on Monday 12th February, we will be installing railings in the school car park for enhanced safety and security. We have seen a significant increase in traffic coming on to the site in the mornings and afternoons and need to ensure we have measures in place to ensure pedestrians are safe. Please ensure that all drop offs and pick ups are done well away from the bus and pavement area.

Chilwell shapes the future
It was a coincidence that after our OFSTED inspection last week, I was pleased to talk with the new head of OFSTED, Sir Martyn Oliver, in a scheduled meeting this week at the council meeting of ASCL. We discussed the national picture and ideas for how OFSTED can develop a more effective approach to inspection into the future. It was a productive meeting and we look forward to a more effective means of ensuring that we, and all schools, are accountable to our community for the education of our young people.

It has also been an opportunity to discuss national developments with AI and the opportunities it opens for schools, teachers and students. We already have a number of staff who have been using AI to enhance curriculum provision and we look to develop this further over the coming months. It is an exciting time for developments at Chilwell!
