10th May 2019

With examinations in year eleven and sixth form underway, this week was the turn of our year sevens and eights to start planning for their end of year examinations

Ms Williams led assemblies on the examination arrangements and all pupils in years seven and eight should have brought home a booklet with information about the examinations. It can be a stressful time for pupils and so please ensure they are well supported at home and rest well.

Our focus on students being able to achieve their best is also being reinforced through our insistence that students should learn in a safe and constructive environment. We have again made this clear with a number of students this week so that the vast majority of students can learn in an environment that is positive and constructive.

On Tuesday we saw how positive our students can be with the great work of our year nine sports leaders taking activities at the Lanes primary school. They were a credit to the school.

Unfortunately at the other extreme, there have been situations where we have taken assertive action to ensure that those who have held back learning are prevented from doing so again. Chilwell school will continue to have high expectations of politeness, hard work and commitment. Our children only get one chance at secondary education and so we are creating the best environment for them to grow. It is such a pleasure to see the desire for learning in the vast majority of our students.
