Sixth form open evening

Thank you to everyone that came to our Lakeview sixth form open evening last night. First apologies that we ran out of chairs, but secondly, thank you for visiting and the overwhelming interest in our offer! We were pleased to welcome our year eleven students as well as many visitors from schools in the area. Taster days

Thursday was also a busy day for our year eleven students involved in taster activities for post sixteen study. With A level taster lessons on site, we also had three visits going to Nottingham College at their city hub and Basford site. In the afternoon we also welcomed the army with a session on careers in the uniformed services. The students were really positive in exploring new challenges and considering plans for the future.

Neighbourhood networks

On Tuesday we had a joint meeting of local schools, police and councillors to discuss concerns raised by the schools regarding anti-social behaviour in our community. Primary schools and secondaries find themselves dealing with the repercussions of some of this activity that takes place in the evening and weekends. We discussed current strategies and how we can work closely together to ensure that our neighbourhoods are safe and welcoming. Further information on this will be shared next half-term.

Toilets

After consultation with students regarding proposals we raised regarding toilet facilities, we will be making some amendments ready for their return after the break.

Chilwell School informs national policy!

We were delighted to welcome the School Teachers Review Body into school on Tuesday. This organisation makes recommendations directly to the government regarding policy in terms of recruitment and employment. A range of staff shared their views and we hope to see these reflected in proposals in the new year. It is really positive that we find ourselves being asked for views on matters of both national and local importance.

Wear it Pink day

The weather didn't dampen our spirits on Friday, with lots of students and staff dressed in pink. We are really pleased to have fundraised over £1000 for Cancer Research today in Breast Cancer Awareness month. All the cakes were sold within minutes!

Half-term break

We hope our families have a good half-term break. School will restart on Monday 6th November.
