23rd June 2023
We held our summer music concert on Wednesday to a full theatre. Thank you to everyone who attended. It was a lovely evening and we were treated to a wide range of instruments and styles of music.
We have a strong commitment to an arts experience at Chilwell and it is so good to see so many students wanting to be involved in this kind of event. This came after the joint singing festival at John Clifford School, where children from all of the family of schools came together to sing and entertain each other. Again, another wonderful event.
On Thursday, our sports leaders were at the Lanes to assist with their sports day and we have already had some lovely feedback on the responsible and kind manner of our students.
Transition Days
Over the weekend, we received news of further strike action which will be taking place during our planned transition days for children in year six. We have made plans and further details can be found on the transition page for parents. We have also written to parents and primaries with this information.
Strike action
The strike action on 5th and 7th July will have an impact on the ability of the school to provide education on site for all. On Wednesday 5th we will have year nine and year twelve students on site and other year groups will need to remain at home and study online. On Friday 7th July we will have year seven, eight, ten and twelve students on site and year nine will need to remain at home and study online.
Hot weather
We will continue to offer students an option in terms of uniform over the next week, with the following choices:
Option 1: Normal school uniform with or without your blazer
(or if you feel you will be too warm in this)
Option 2: School PE Top worn with School PE Shorts (not leggings or Joggers)
The students have responded really well and have also ensured they have enough to drink. However, please ensure that students do not consider other clothing options to be acceptable or we will require them to change either at school or by returning home.
