Cygnus

Thank you for the responses to our Cygnus survey - it is good that so many parents and students find the provision valuable. In terms of enhancement activities, we are pleased to share with you the following opportunity for families, sent to us by the Richard Whitehead Foundation.

In 2022, we organised our inaugural ‘Run with Rich’ event in Nottingham at Holme Pierrepont; a unique fundraising event consisting of a 5km “run” and a sensory 1-mile course for participants to complete. The focus of the event is to provide a truly inclusive experience, with participants able to complete the courses ‘their way’ alongside double Paralympic champion Richard Whitehead.
Last year we were blown away by the level of participation we achieved, with around 450 participants, 50 volunteers, and lots of spectators. It was an amazing community inclusive event, with local club runners, Paralympians, novice runners, first-timers, people recovering from life changing events or an opportunity for people to celebrate their level of ability, everyone came away from the event with memories that will last forever.
For our first event, we were over the moon, and we are now back for 2023, on the 18th of June and hope to be even bigger and better than ever.

Assemblies - young people and the law

We have had a number of assemblies this week, focusing on young people and the law and the significant impact of ill-considered decisions. We have a strong relationship with our local community police officer and were pleased to give him the opportunity to share important information with our children.
