26th April 2019

Welcome back to the summer term and a busy combination of academic and extra-curricular activities.

At the end of the spring term, our staff used the training day to share the wide range of developments that have taken place across the school. There has been a strong focus on developing students’ ability to recall information and develop strategies to help with memory. Also, the focus that we have had on developing the regular use of subject specific language and terminology has had an impact across all year groups. A number of subject areas are also embedding the use accumulative testing – this approach reinforces the building of knowledge across a range of areas and helps develop students’ long term memory.

We are already looking forward to next year and staff will be focussing on ensuring that curriculum resources are a priority. Providing a rich and deep curriculum experience has always been the priority at Chilwell and we will be supporting staff in creating time and opportunities to ensure that we meet that priority.

Year eleven and year thirteen students are in the final build up to their examinations and revision sessions are continuing up to and within the examination period.

The end of this term will bring the Chilwell activities week as well as induction for the students who will be joining us in September. Both will be an exciting time for students to make the best of the opportunities available to them at Chilwell.
