10th March 2023

A full week of activities this week as we have been recognising national careers week. We also have a number of events planned for next week. Please also remember the strike action that will affect Wednesday and Thursday. Further news on this can be found here.

National science week

Next week is national science week and we have a range of activities taking place over the week.

This year the theme is connections! There will be lunchtime activities in science all week as well as the following events.

On Monday we have outdoor science, bubbles and bangs and a start of the week lunchtime event for Key Stage 4, held outside lab 32 (lakeside). On Tuesday we welcome Dr Amanda Tatler from the University of Nottingham who will be talking about careers in science. With science themed lessons on Thursday and outdoor science activities for years seven to nine on Friday we are looking forward to an exciting week of activities.

Football success for our year nine team

Wednesday saw an exciting game for our year nine squad against Beckett School. With Chilwell taking an early lead, the two teams battled throughout the second half and Chilwell eventually finished victorious with a 2-1 win. Well done to all involved and especially the year eight students who were playing up a year.

KS4 curriculum evening

We welcomed parents of year nine students on to the site on Thursday evening for a presentation on the KS4 curriculum and the opportunity for students and parents to have discussions with subject staff about GCSE choices. We have a wide range of subject courses available and we will continue to support students through their preparation for starting GCSE courses in September.

Welcome to our new families

I have written to all of our new families of children who will be starting with us in year seven in September. We are pleased to say that we are again over subscribed and we look forward to further meetings and communication with families of our new intake students as the months progress.
