6th January 2023

Welcome back to the new term, with new enhancement opportunities, discovery day next week, upcoming year eight assessments and parents evenings for a number of year groups.

Staying healthy

I hope you had a restful break over Christmas, but am aware that a number of students and staff have had bugs and illnesses. As we move to what we hope will be warmer weather and sunnier times, we need to continue to take precautions to stay well. We have received updated advice from the UK Health Security Agency in terms of managing winter illness. This includes staying home when unwell, hand hygiene, using tissues to capture coughs and sneezes, ensuring vaccinations are up to date and keeping informed. The full guidance is available here.

Staying safe

It is still very busy at the front of school in the mornings and afternoons and thank you again for your co-operation in making sure our children can arrive and leave safely. It is good to see parents and to say hello, check in with particular parents, be alerted to any concerns or alert us to unauthorised visitors.

We maintain close relationships with the police and have been pleased with the impact that has been seen with Operation Potassium in the local community. We will continue to always be proactive to ensure that information is shared to keep our community safe.

Mock results
We will be sharing the outcomes of mock examinations with year thirteen and year eleven students over the next week, with the opportunity for parents of year eleven students to meet online with teaching staff next Thursday.

A new build for Chilwell school

Since I informed you of the good news regarding the inclusion of Chilwell in the list of schools identified for a rebuild, we have been in contact with the local authority and other schools to ensure that we can keep the momentum going and achieve a new build as soon as possible. However, at the same time we need to be realistic and need to be patient. I will of course update you as things progress.
