29th April 2022

The school welcomed a number of visitors this week as we have been appointing to some key roles within the school. I am so pleased that not only do we have a large number of people wanting to join us, but also the fact that all of our visitors have commented on the calm and purposeful attitude around school during lesson time. Thank you to all of our students for continuing to work hard.

Transition - year six to seven

This week we met with parents of year six students to share with them the plans for transition over the next few months. It was a full meeting and it was a pleasure to meet families and our team were especially grateful for the messages of thanks afterwards. We are so looking forward to working with you!

Transition - year eleven to twelve

Ms Williams presented the final examination and transition arrangements with year eleven students this week. We are excited about the opportunities we are offering to students as they look forward to the end of of one part of their education and the start of the next. There is still a lot of work to be done over the next few weeks but we also look to results day when we can recognise the achievements of year eleven students and welcome them to sixth form learning with our quality support, enhanced facilities and with each of our starters given a chrome book as an important part of their studies.

Transition - year thirteen to university

We will continue to be on hand to support our A level students with the final preparations for examinations and also the significant step of moving onto university or further training. Our sixth form grows in size each year and we continue to attract a number of students from neighbouring schools who recognise the personal support and encouragement as our older students continue their journey into adulthood.

Music successes

Charlotte Hollingworth in year eleven achieved a merit for her grade six flute exam and Danny Walton in year nine achieved a merit for his grade two piano exam.

Owen Pudner, who is on the "Furthering Talent" programme, is now taking part in a pilot scheme with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He is working with violinist Jenny King on theory and practical performance and will receive twenty hours of extra tuition.

In further news, Romy Woodward has now made it through with her song to the to the top thirty in the final of the national songwriting contest. All in all a good week for our students!
