14th January 2022
This week was our first full week back with year eleven parents' evening and a second visit from the school aged immunisation service for another round of COVID vaccinations.
Our musical enhancements have restarted and it was also good to see the sports hall very busy with students attending badminton club after school this week.
Our new staff have settled in and we are pleased that we now have developed a significant provision in place to support students who may need additional support, whether that be through SEND need, careers advice, catch up academic work or support with English as an additional language.
I also referred parents this week to additional support that is available to parents and carers, especially those who have responsibility for children with additional needs.
Our intervention and support programme for year eleven students will be commencing shortly and there will be further information for parents on this next week. We anticipate more students than ever joining our sixth form in September and the next few months will be about supporting students as they prepare for the next stage of their education. In addition, I have meetings with more students who are wanting to join Chilwell sixth form from other schools and it will be good to meet with them and talk about our offer.
Whilst our year nine students missed out on their discovery day this week, we are planning a more sustained and extended opportunity for students in this year group to get a taste of GCSE courses and their options for next year. We will issue information on this shortly.
Thank you again for your continued support of the school.
