I am talking, of course, about the game underway on the pitch at present, between our new and current sixth form students. In wet and slippy conditions, the two teams are currently looking for the win and I was fortunate enough to be outside to see a wonder goal from the half way line. I await the final result!

It is fantastic to see normal school events taking place and this is because of the way that we have organised our year bubbles, the procedures we have in place and the determination to offer students as many opportunities as possible.

Year eleven prom

I am also pleased to be able to give good news about the year eleven prom. It is a shame that so many are being cancelled around the country, but with our early decision to move the venue to the school itself with a marquee by the lake, we are confident our event can proceed as planned. Please see the news item for details on the arrangements for the prom.

Opportunities at Chilwell

As we continue to develop our provision, I am pleased to offer opportunities to work at Chilwell. Please see our vacancies page for a number of support staff roles, both student facing and administrative. Chilwell school is a great place to work. We are a warm and friendly staff and you will find a great welcome if you choose to work with us.

Masks

I explained in my blog on 5th June that I was "asking for Chilwell school's current approach to continue for another two weeks until Monday 21st June. This means continuing to wear masks in social areas, corridors and classrooms. We would plan for this to end if we have had two weeks without disruption to year groups."

Unfortunately we have experienced cases at school which has meant sending students home, as well as a rise in cases in the local area. In addition, there has been the national announcement on Monday of a delay to the relaxation of lockdown, and so I must ask again for our current arrangement to continue for a further two weeks until Friday 2nd July when we will have been able to review the situation again.

Primary to secondary transition

It was good to meet on Wednesday evening with parents of students who will be joining us in September. We will be issuing transition packs shortly, which will contain lots of information ready for September. In addition, please see our transition pages which have new assembly videos from Mr Hobbs as well as a range of useful information to discuss with your child.
