7th May 2021

I want to commend the students in year thirteen and year eleven who have continued to approach their work and assessments with commitment and rigour.

As we face the final three weeks of GCSE and A Level courses, I have received lots of feedback from teachers about how hard students have been working and I want to thank all of them for doing their best to ensure we can award grades that truly reflect their effort and attainment.

We have also continued to plan a number of events before the end of term, not only to celebrate the students who are coming to the end of stages of their education, but for students in key stage three to offer them the opportunity to extend their learning and experiences further. More information on this will be issued shortly.

We have shared some further examples of the work of students during the lockdown period - please see here for further information.

At the same time, I have written home to parents this afternoon to inform them of a case that has affected a small number of our school community. You may be aware that there has been a significant outbreak at establishments near to us and whilst we continue to have in place our systems to ensure that the risk is minimised, now is not a time for any of us to be complacent. We have been fortunate at Chilwell to have escaped disruption across the school, but we may not always be this lucky. I therefore repeat my request to ensure students and families follow all guidance to protect yourselves and our community.

I wish you a safe and peaceful weekend.
