5th March 2021
Today will see the completion of the first round of lateral flow testings in school for our students.
I was really pleased that we were able to test 86% of the eligible students yesterday and we are looking at similar figures today. It will be an important part of the measures we have in place to ensure that staff, students and families can approach the resumption of school life with confidence.
Home testing will become a regular part of the partnership with parents and so please take the time to be clear on how the tests are taken so that this can become part of the routine at home.
I am aware there has been a lot of information coming home this week. We will also be wanting to share further information on grading for this summer with students in years eleven and thirteen and their parents. There will be more information on this over the next week.
We are very much looking forward to seeing students again. They have been so positive and co-operative throughout this time and we look forward to being with them again. Where students need additional support, we will be able to help, and this is a reminder that we will continue to have high expectations of behaviour, co-operation and care for others.
The timetable for return has been published. We ask now that students prepare themselves for the regular routine of school, of safe travel to and from the site and an excitement about the opportunities to see other people and interact in a school environment.
Finally, a welcome to the families of all the students who will be joining us in September in year seven. You are joining a community that has really supported each other over the past year. We look forward to supporting you over the next few months as you become part of the Chilwell school community.
