12th February 2021

We wish you well and a safe half-term break. It has certainly been a tough time for everyone and we continue to appreciate the support you are giving your children and the school.

On Wednesday of this week, we held the specialisms evening for year eight students and their parents. We hope that all questions were able to be addressed and the slides from the evening as well as questions raised on that evening are available on the specialisms page.

Our year nine options evening on Thursday went successfully and we hope that you found it helpful in making decisions about the next couple of years.

Thank you again to our fantastic group of volunteers who have been coming in to school to run the lateral flow testing. We really appreciate the support of the community.

We are still awaiting the outcome of the the consultation on summer grading as well as further information about our return to the school site. In the meantime, we look forward to the half-term break and an opportunity to recharge and prepare for next half-term and our anticipated return at some point to on site school provision.

We have a couple of events almost as soon as lessons start again on 22nd February. On the first day we are delighted to have an online theatre performance for our year nine students. This will take place in the second double lesson of the day. Please note that this will be via Zoom, not Google Classroom. Information on how the students will log in will be sent home. Please ensure that Zoom is available on the electronic device and installed before we return.

In addition, we have the planned year seven parents evening on 4th February. Further information on how to make appointments will be sent home on the first day back.

Finally, in preparing for next term it is important that students rest, get fresh air and have time to reflect on what they have achieved and what lies ahead. Being prepared is the best way to ensure success and so to help, we have planned to make resources available to students who need them over the half-term break. We will be taking the school minibus around Chilwell and Beeston on Thursday 18th February with pencil cases, pencils, pens, paper, exercise books and sanitary products - all free to students and families that need them. Thank you to all the businesses who have offered their car park areas to us.

The timings for the minibus are in the table.

If you need equipment, please drop by - if you are passing, give us a wave!

Thank you again. Stay safe.
