11th December 2020

First, a reminder that school will be continuing until Friday 18th December, when we will break up for the Christmas holiday.

Our update to parents earlier this week was as a result of the government announcement. Schools need to ensure that we are clear with parents and we intend to fulfil our responsibility up to the end of term.

At the same time it is essential that we all look after each other and so I am repeating my request to parents to ensure that all students come equipped with a mask. We have noticed that a small number of students are forgetting them on the days that change to or from having PE. Please always check that if students are coming to school in different uniform, they check to ensure they have a mask with them.

Our food bank contributions have continued and we have already undertaken two large food bank drops, with another planned for immediately after the new year break. Thank you again for everything that is being done to help those in need this Christmas.

It has been a pleasure to meet and talk with students in year eleven about their plans for the future as they look to further study. I am delighted that so many students see the next stage of their education at Chilwell, showing that not only are students aiming high, but that they recognise the strength of our sixth form provision and the support it offers in their studies.

Whilst we have not been able to have our Christmas activities in the usual way, we enjoyed our Christmas lunch on Wednesday and next week we will be sharing festive musical performances with you - and indeed much more! Please look out for news on this next week.

I wish you all a safe and calm weekend as we head to the final days before the Christmas break.
