8th May 2020

I hope you have all had a good day on this 75th anniversary of VE day. We have been open today for childcare and have been thinking about how the spirit of courage and community focus that was so evident in that time of crisis might help us shape our response to today's.

We await any further guidance that may be given on Sunday in terms of what plans are in place for schools, but we have been busy putting together a range of draft plans to support the return to school of Chilwell students.

At present, it is important that students continue with the tasks set on google classroom. We have been tracking the responses and assignments  that have been submitted and also want to be receptive to parental queries as to the work undertaken.

We are planning a review of the work that has been undertaken so far so that this issue can be picked up in more detail in the phone calls home with tutors. We are developing a simple way of collecting this information so you will be able to pick up any concerns about meeting deadlines or completion of assignments.

In addition, we are setting up the system so that it is easier for parents to see at a glance the assignments that have been set so that you are in a stronger position to support children at home. Please look out for these developments over the next week or two. In the meantime, if you have questions regarding your child's engagement with the work, please be patient whilst we pull this information together for you. You are always able to see the assignments and deadlines in the bottom left corner of the google classroom homescreen, when your child is logged in.

We are also working through the process of getting refunds for parents wth regard to activities week. Please could I also ask that you are patient in this area as well. We hope to be able to update you further with confirmation of when the refunds will be made.

Best wishes to you all.
