Key Stage 4 Options

Over the next few months, students in Year 9 will be choosing some of the subjects that they will study in Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4), these subjects are referred to as their Options. Below is an overview of the Options Process.

Key Dates

Thursday 27th February 2025– Initial Assembly for Year 9

Brief introduction to the Options Process and an opportunity to select some subjects to try on Options Taster Day.

Friday 7th March 2025 – Options Taster Day

An opportunity for students to try out some subjects, see which ones they like (and maybe see which ones they don’t like!).

Tuesday 11th March 2025 – Options Booklet issued via the school website

Subject specific information, including course content, assessment structure, and exam board, for all the subjects offered at Key Stage 4.

Thursday 13th March 2025In Person Options Information Evening at 6pm

Advice and information for parents and students regarding the overall options process.

This is always a popular event, so we will be running three time slots organised by tutor groups, to ensure the evening runs smoothly. The times for each presentation are below:

  • 5:50pm Presentation – 9PHE, 9PG and 9FG 
  • 6:15pm Presentation – 9CRI and 9JSO 
  • 6:40pm Presentation – 9CMA and 9SQ

The evening will be held in school, there will be a brief presentation in the theatre to outline the Options Process and then an opportunity for students and parents to speak with teaching staff about specific subjectsmore information to follow half-term.

Thursday 13th March – Friday 21st March 2025– Options Selection Window

Options Selection Form issued for completion by parents. Form will be available on the school website. Deadline for completion is Friday 21st March 2025.
